Basic Research Applications

For all basic research applications where the proliferation status and/or potential of lympho-hematopoietic stem, progenitor and precursor cell populations is required, choose HALO® Research Assay Kits.
HALO® Research Kits are available:
1. With methyl cellulose, HALO®-96 MeC and
2. Without methyl cellulose, HALO®-96 SEC.
All HALO® Research Kits are available for different cell populations and without
growth factors for human, non-human primate, sheep, dog, rat and mouse.

For Research Applications involving Stem Cell Self-Renewal and Expansion

use HALO®-96 PREP
HALO®-96 PREP (Proliferation, Renewal and Expansion Potential) is available in both methyl cellulose (MeC) and non-methyl cellulose (SEC) versions for human, non-human primate, dog, rat and mouse.
HALO®-96 PREP detects and measures the primitive, quiescent High Proliferative Potential - Stem and Progenitor (HPP-SP) population. With HALO®-96 PREP, the quiescent HPP-SP population is first induced in to cell cycle and then re-plated in a second culture to demonstrate that primitive stem cells were present and also to show expansion potential.

Stem Cell Transplantation and Umbilical Cord Blood Banking Assays
For determining Stem Cell "Quality"
of bone marrow, peripheral blood and pre- or post-cryopreserved umbilical cord blood

use HALO®-96 SPC-QC
in place of the colony-forming assay (CFU)
HALO®-96 SPC-QC assays can detect:
1. The in vitro multipotential stem cell population CFC-GEMM (Colony-Forming Cell - Granulocyte, Erythroid, Megakaryocyte, Macrophage), also called CFCmix, and/or
2. The in vitro primitive High Proliferative Potential - Stem and Progenitor (HPP-SP) Cell population
both either with or without background controls.
For each or both populations, assay kits are available using:
1. Methyl cellulose (HALO®-96 MeC SPC-QC), or
2. Without methyl cellulose (HALO®-96 SEC SPC-QC).
HALO®-96 SPC-QC is only for human umbilical cord blood, bone marrow or normal or mobilized peripheral blood mononuclear cells.

To measure Stem Cell Potency, "Quality" and Define Acceptance Levels for Release Criteria of Umbilical Cord Blood as required by United States and European Guidelines and Regulations

HALO®-96 PQR (Potency, Quality, Release) was specifically designed to comply with present and future guidelines and regulations that require stem cell potency to be measured and release criteria to be defined for umbilical cord blood prior to transplantation.
HALO®-96 PQR is available for human primitive (HPP-SP) and mature (CFC-GEMM) cell populations. All HALO®-96 PQR assays contain an umbilical cord blood reference standard sample by which the stem cell potency of the sample can be determined.
HALO®-96 PQR is only available in HALO®-96 SEC format and can be ordered online by clicking here.
To Monitor Engraftment and Reconstitution (Repopulation) of the Blood-Forming System in Patients that have undergone Transplantation or are in Clinical Trials

use HALO®-96 PMT
HALO®-96 PMT (Patient Monitoring after Transplantation) is available in either a methyl cellulose or SEC version to detect
1. Four (4) hematopoietic cell populations (CFC-GEMM, BFU-E, GM-CFC, Mk-CFC) simultabeously, or
2. Seven (7) lympho-hematopoietic populations (HPP-SP, CFC-GEMM, BFU-E, GM-CFC, Mk-CFC, T-CFC and B-CFC, plus a background control) simultaneously.
Use these assay kits allows engraftment outcome to be determined as well as following reconstitution of the patient after transplantation. In addition, HALO®-96 PMT can be used to monitor the lympho-hematopoietic system in patients on a clinical trial.
