Mesenchymal Stem Cell (MSC) Research
The ability of the MSC system to produce a number of differentiated cell types, including chondrocytes, adipocytes and different skeletal and neural cells, means that MSC system studies are extremely varied ranging from basic research to clinical applications including transplantation.
The ability to detect not only MSC proliferation, replacing the CFU-F assay and detecting the proliferative status of cells induced to differentiate into MSC-derived cell populations, allows the LUMENESC™ Platform to be incorporated into a large number of different applications. In addition, because of the flexibility of the LUMENESC™ platforms, cells can be grown and tested either directly in the 96-well plates provided with the kits or grown in other tissue culture vessels and transferred to the 96-well plates provided for assay. By increasing the number of replicate wells normally used to detect proliferation, the extra wells can be used for phenotypic analysis or even gene expression analysis, thereby allowing multiparameter assessment from a single sample.
