The POC Tissue Culture Chamber System


Improved microscopes and different optical techniques now allow higher standards in microscopic analysis of living cells. Heated microscope stages and climate boxes offer the possibility of observing cells and tissues under stabilized temperature conditions. Different climate boxes are capable of maintaining the correct temperature and pH-value of the medium in which the cells are being cultured by regulating the CO2. In addition, the O2-concentration can also be regulated to simulate in vivo conditions.

The POC Chamber System meets the demands of different microscopic methods in the observation and analysis of living cells. It is available with a rectangular baseplate and an observation area of Ø 30mm (POC), or with a round baseplate and an observation area of Ø 30mm (POC-R2).  In addition, a miniature version (POC mini-2) is available for smaller volumes and has an observation area of Ø 17-22 mm.

 

 

Characteristics of POC Chamber Systems
  • The POC Chamber System, POC-R2 Chamber System and POCmini-2 can be used for virtually all microscopy techniques.
  • Suitable for short- and long-term culture.
  • "Open" and "closed" culture as well as open and closed perfusion is possible.
  • In the case of "open" culture, the chamber can be protected from evaporation by a FoilCover.
  • For all POC-applications, the cells can be cultivated on glass.
  • A pre-culture of cells on cover glasses in Petri dishes is possible. All sterile POC-Chambers should be assembled in a laminar air flow.
  • All parts of the POC-Chamber can be sterilized by autoclaving (121°C) or by dry heating (165-170°C).
  • For longer observations of cell and tissue cultures under an inverted microscope, the POC-Chambers should be placed into a Heating Frame, a Heating- and Cooling Frame or the Heating Insert P.

FoilCover is designed to fit onto different cell culture vessels and reduce water evaporation from the nutrient medium. The special foil (CultFoil) is optically clear and permeable to incubator gases, CO2 O2 and N2.Description

  • Reduction in water evaporation from nutrient medium, agar and methylcellulose, preventing an increase of ions in the medium.
  • A special foil (CultFoil) is fixed in between two steel elements and replaces the usual plastic cover. The foil is optically clear and permeable for the gases CO2, O2 and N2.
  • Water molecules can pass through the foil at higher temperatures and pressures (autoclave).
  • The measurement values demonstrate a distinct advantage of the FoilCover, especially if cultured cells are investigated under the microscope.
  • FoilCover can be used with standard Petri dishes, Lab-Tek™ and Lab-Tek™ II chambers, M06-96 multiwell plates and with our POC, POC-R2 and POCmini 2 systems during open cultivation.
  • Can be sterilized with CultFoil at 165°C in dry heat or at 121°C in the autoclave.

GLASS COVERS FOR PETRI DISHES

  • The Glass Cover replaces the usual plastic cover of Petri dishes. Made of stainless steel with a glass plate, it is suitable for high resolution techniques, in particular DIC applications.
  • The cover can be used with standard Petri dishes.
  • Sterilized at 165°C in dry heat or at 121°C in the autoclave.
  • Compatibility
  • 60 mm Petri dishes
  • 35 mm Petri dishes.

 

GLASS COVER FOR IMAGING DISH CG

  • The Glass Cover replaces the usual plastic cover of the Imaging Dish CG.
  • Especially suited for high resolution microscopy and DIC applications.
  • Made of stainless steel with a glass insert. The observation area has a diameter of 26 mm. The height of the cover is 6 mm. The cover and the dish can both be picked up together very easily from the surface. Due to the 12 small edges above the bottom of the dish the user can grip the dish together with the cover. This provides for a sterile handling of the medium.
  • The Glass Cover has been designed for the cell culture Imaging Dish CG by Zell-Kontakt. This 35 mm Petri dish with cover glass bottom has macroscopic orientation marks in its glass bottom (lasered microgrid, width 5mm).
  • Suited for all kinds of high resolution microscopy.
  • The Glass Cover can be sterilized at 165°C in dry heat or at 121°C in the autoclave.

GLASS COVER FOR MICRO-DISH

  • The Glass Cover replaces the usual plastic cover of this Petri dish. It significantly reduces the evaporation of water from the nutrition media, agar and methylcellulose and therefore prevents higher concentrations of ions in the medium.
  • Especially suited for high resolution microscopy and DIC applications in particular.
  • The cover is made of stainless steel with a glass insert. The observation area has a diameter of 26 mm. The height of the cover is 5 mm.
  • Sterilizable at 165°C in dry heat or at 121°C in the autoclave.
  • Compatibility.
  • 35mm Petri dish, micro-dish (Ibidi).

The Object Holder provides for sterile handling of Petri dishes and slides and protects the cell cultures from contamination. Two different versions are available.

Unheated Universal Mounting Frames for Inverted and Upright Microscopes

Universal mounting frames can be used for a variety of different microscopes to hold different types of tissue culture vessels. Some of the mounting frames are for inverted microscopes while others are for upright microscopes. Please download the catalog for more information. Similar to the unheated mounting frames, but requiring either a TempControl 32-2 digital or a TempControl 37 (1 channel) as the electrical unit to heat the frames.

Inserts hold tissue culture vessels in microscope mounting frames. The frames areeither attached to the microscope stage or lie on the stage. HemoGenix® provides a wide variety of unheated inserts available for the POC Tissue Culture System, different Petri dishes, Lab-Tek™ chambers and multiwell plates.

In addition, similar inserts are available that can be heated. A Tempcontrol 37-2 Digital controller is needed. For electrophysiological studies, a heating and cooling insert may be required.

CO2 Inserts and Frames

For viewing, monitoring and photographing cells for extended periods of time, it is not only necessary to maintain the correct temperature, but also the pH. For this reason, CO2 inserts are available that can be used in conjunction with heated frames. A CO2 controller is required.
