Using Multiple Primary Cell Populations

LumiSTEM

LumiSTEM™ can be used as a proliferation / cytotoxicity - apoptosis assay for multiple cell system studies. The new LumiSTEM™-96 PREP assay has been designed to measure proliferation, substantiate th presence and self-renewal and expansion potential of stem cells from most of the systems listed below.

Stem and "Progenitor" Cell Systems

  • Embryonic stem (ES) cells
  • Induced Pluripotent Stem (iPS) Cells
  • Primordial germ cells (PGC)
  • Adipose stem cells
  • Germ stem cells
  • Lung stem cells
  • Neural stem cells
  • Skin stem cells
  • Cancer stem cells
  • Stem cell lines
  • Endothelial "progenitor" cells
  • Kidney "progenitor" cells
  • Liver "progenitor" cells
  • Mammary "progenitor" cells
  • Cell lines (e.g. NCI stem cell panel)

Other Proliferating Cell Systems

  • Transformed cell lines (e.g. NCI Cell Panel)
  • Cells from the lungs and airways
  • Epithelial cell systems
  • Fibroblast cells systems (not mesenchymal stem cells)
  • Cells from the bladder
  • Cells from the prostate

The ability to analyze the response of multiple primary cell populations in side-by-side studies simultaneously is part of the ComparaTOX™ Platform for Predictive In Vitro Cross-Platform Comparative Toxicity testing. Even though the cells may be cultured using different media, growth factors and for different time periods, the same standardized ATP-based bioluminescence readout is used. Thus, the response of 2 or more primary cell populations can be directly compared with each other. This is of paramount importance when new candidate drugs are screened or environmental toxins determined. For such screening procedures, HemoGenix® has developed the LumiSTEM™-384 Adherent and Non-Adherent Platform so that automated, high-throughput instrumentation can be used.
