Viability Assays

Viability Assays

Dye exclusion viability assays using trypan blue, acridine orange, t-aminoactinomycin D (7-AAD) and others work by having to pass through the membrane. These are membrane integrity assays that can give false positive results, leading to the conclusion that the cells are viable when they are actually dead.

Metabolic viability assays provide a sound and reliable alternative.

  • LIVEGlo™: A standardized ATP bioluminescence viability to determine the intracellular ATP concentration as a markerfor cell viability and potential function.
